Now that spring is allegedly here (you can’t be too sure in the northeast) it’s a perfect time to talk about my favorite trend for the upcoming season, NEON! I wish I was joking, but all I want to do is look like a highlighter. I’m talking about bright yellows, oranges, blues, you get the picture. Before I get carried away, I’m trying to introduce some key pieces in my wardrobe, which I suggest you do as well. I wanted to complement the bright yellow with tints of green. Honestly, if you’re going anywhere in a crazy color hoodie you might as well have fun with the whole fit.

If I had a pick a word to describe what I want out of my new year, it’d be: bold. It’s a pretty loaded word that means a couple of different things to me, but I wanted my first blog post of 2017 to carry that message as well. First and foremost, we need to talk about this coat. Ain’t no blending into the background while wearing bright red, bih. With a piece like this there are only two ways to wear it. Either all the time and be known as the dude with “that coat” or once in a blue moon to remind everyone you’re about that life. I’m currently wearing this again today so I might be closer to the former. I’m also incredibly in love with these wide leg trousers. Wasn’t sure how they’d look since I’m on the shorter side but the fit is *kisses hand like a chef*

How do you plan on being bolder in 2017?

I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve stopped hyping New Year’s Eve. I’ve been the bozo running around the streets of New York in a bright blazer and bow tie, but this year I’m opting for something more chill. While I’m not going all out, I still love being “festive.” If you’re still looking for some outfit inspo, I’m pretty obsessed with this look. I’ve been waiting to bust out this pajama shirt since it’s a lot of look, but it’s the perfect party piece. The top is a LEWQ so I made sure to dress around it. (Besides the shining patent shoes and the gold bling, of course.) Personally, I have no idea what I’m doing this year, but I’m sure I’ll end up singing Rihanna’s Work at the top of my lungs while dancing on top of a couch and clinging to a half empty bottle of champagne in my hand.

New season, so time to try out some new things. One piece I’ve wanted to try for a while is the kimono. In all honesty, I got this one right before summer started, but was weary of that fine line of cultural appreciation and appropriation. I have a vintage one from the 60s that I’ve never wore for that exact reason. The cut of this isn’t as traditional and it’s black so it looks like another layering piece. Speaking of walking thin lines, I styled this to be cozy and simple yet clean and stylized. (Not sure what that means either, I’m running on like 3 hours of sleep.) I think it’s pretty dope to “borrow” from other cultures, but it doesn’t take much to do a little googling and make sure you’re not accidentally being offensive. (The more you know….)
