The Dummies Guide To Minimalism

As I was at my parents house this past weekend going through the winter clothes I dumped there earlier this year, I couldn’t help to notice that the “no pile” starting to greatly outweighed the pile of clothes that would ultimately be coming back with me. And in that moment I thought “Am I becoming a minimalist?” After I slapped myself in the face for the awful Sex and the City voiceover moment, I laughed and realized that I was only in theory. While I’ll always love my prints and mixing every color in the crayon box, I’ve found myself muting my wardrobe more and more. I guess I’m growing up? Idk. Sometimes you just need a sweatshirt and some trousers. No need to use every satorial trick in the book for one look.

I’m getting ready to head home for the long weekend. Being around the fam and in the suburbs means being on my p’s and q’s, which makes me think of my less than great life choices. OD snapchats,  staying out late, wearing jackets like this in below 40 degree weather, you get the picture. When Biggie said that “Bad Boys move in silence” he meant in a blacked out outfit and Margiela inspired shoes, right? Well that’s what I got from it. I’ve been digging wearing strictly black and white look for a while. It’s hard to mess up and you’ll look good even if you wear the same outfit 3 days (or nights) straight. (Not that I would know.)

P.S. The fact that I have a Drake song as a blog title shows that I’m trippin’.

As much as I love my prints, I could seriously where black forever. On that note, did Jay-Z really wear all black a year straight? I believe it’s possible, but that’s research I’ll pretend to do later.

In the city of “all black errthang,” it can be daunting to make yourself stand out. Personally I love the contrast of some blaring white accessories. This is also a perfect chance to show off the sneakers I DIY’d. Not bad, right? The painted laces were a hassle to deal with, but the white on white Hickies I used instead are pretty clean. (Much like this whole look.)
