Remember that Kanye, Jamie Foxx, & Twista collab, Slow Jamz? Well my favorite line comes from Kanye (of course) who says “Got a light skin friend, look Michael Jackson; Got a dark skin friend, look like Michael Jackson.” Well that was my inspiration for this post & outfit when me and my friend Corey Kindberg attended the Michael Jackson Cirque du soleil show last week.

I mentioned it briefly in yesterday’s post, but last week I got a chance to road trip it from Manhattan all the way to Philadelphia. Ford & Sony equipped me with a super cool Explorer (which I’ll review in an upcoming post) and I of course brought along my parter in crime, Corey Kindberg, for the ride to the city of brotherly love. Below a quick summary of my trip with some of my favorite photos.
I call her Mrs Garrett because she’s big, red, and told me what to do.
While there we attended the Michael Jackson Cirque du Soliel show. (Hence the MJ inspired looks above.)
The trip was honestly a blast and I totally plan on going back. (Without cameras)
Last week I was invited to check out the lastest basketball shoe designs from Converse. I’ve mentioned on this blog before that I’m not same the sneaker head that I used to be but Converse might be one of my favorite footwear brands (based on their Chuck Taylor’s alone) and I could never turn an opportunity like that down
Team Converse (L-R) Kyle Korver, Lou Williams, & Chris Andersen
As part of the media I got a chance to preview the sneakers before the launch. With that, I had a chance to sit in on a talk with the Converse Senior Designer,Converse Design Director & Team Converse athletes: Chris Andersen of the Denver Nuggets, Lou Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Kyle Korver of the Chicago Bulls.
The Defcons are certainly more than just a basketball shoe. In fact they don’t even look like a performance basketball sneakers hence why I’m obsessed with them. And the Pro Leather 2K11′s are similar in trendsetting style.
BTW check out the cool tee I got as a takeaway below. I’ll make sure to throw it into a style post in the near future.
I’m totally going to sound like one of those pretentious people who claimed they knew about an actor or musician before they were “mainstream.” At the risk of being “that guy” I just have to say I’ve been obsessed with actor/comedian/writer Donald Glover before Community, 30 Rock, or the comedy specials. (Ask my brother if you don’t believe me.)
If you’ve never heard of him he is a self proclaimed nerd. Something we have in common.) Perhaps this is the very reson I’m dying over this editorial featuring the best of prints, layers, and colors for fall. Bravo GQ but something looks familiar:
Now while most of us wait all year for summer to come around we usually forget how hot it can get. That being said it can seem daunting to look both stylish and cool in the rising temperatures. We’re here to show you a couple essentials on beating the heat and keeping your cool. Continue reading →
