With the Band

Band tees have always been a favorite of mine ever since my first concert. (*coughs* Fall Out Boy *coughs) I’ve styled them a couple of different ways on this site, but this go around I wanted to really for an authentic classic rock feel. Dark fitted jeans, boots, and a leather jacket are all no brainers to team your tee up with. If you’re really going for it, you have to make sure your accessories are on point. Mixing metals and adding a bandana to my hat isn’t rocket science or new by any means, but going that extra step really helps to pull a fit off.

Since I’m sitting in my apartment currently wrapped up in my comforter to avoid the 20 degree weather, I feel like it’s no time like the present to share some of the favorite pieces from my closet this winter. Let’s start with Shibuya Robe from the KITH x Ones Strokes collab. One might judge this purchase this over a traditional big coat but 1) I’m grown and do what I want and 2) it’s going to be my main layering piece all season. That brings me to the longline button up from Boohoo. I’ve been looking for a shirt with this silhouette but they traditionally don’t look great on dudes with a shorter frame. The black totally gives me the illusion of having an actual torso. (Cat’s out of the bag:I’m really short IRL.) Moving on too these boots from Coach. While I have a plethora of brown boots it’s been the bane of my existence to find a perfect pair that I can rock with skinny jeans, tights, or trousers. And finally, I can’t forget my new Saint Laurent glasses from SmartBuyGlasses. Actually I can’t because I’m literally blind and the law requires me to wear them while operating a vehicle. When it comes to eyewear I’m very no frills but appreciate a touch of design and versatility. Sidenote: Is anyone surprised that all my favorites are black?

Well I shared what I’ll be wearing a million times this season, what are some of your picks for this winter?

What’s black, white, and shivering all over? Answer: Me this past week. Full disclosure this is my roommate Corey’s coat because I’m not a real adult who owns outerwear that works as primarily as function and not fashion. (Ex: I am wearing jeans with a huge hole in them.) Not sure why, but I’ve never thought as myself as the “peacoat type.” I think I’m a convert now. A plain black or navy one is a staple every dude should have. (Including me.)

Been super into adding my mesh tank as a cool under layer for a more downtown look, but you can check out this same coat style in a more preppy fashion here.

What do you do when you wake up to temperatures that feel like below zero?
1) Ask yourself if that’s humanly possible.
2) Figure out a way to stay in bed under the covers as long as possible.
3) Man up and handle you business for the day.

If you’re anything like me you may or may not be prepared for these outrageous weather conditions. I blame my lack of a real winter coat on global warming and all around laziness. If you’re looking for some new outerwear that both stunts and keeps you from freezing to death then check some of my picks above.
