I refuse to let the heat kill my vibe. In an effort to not pass out in the middle of the street, you still can’t be wearing all the same pieces from winter. (Or at least in the same way.) As always linen or linen blends are your friend if you want to wear something that’s usually heavy like a bomber or longline shirt. (Don’t make any sudden movements though because you will wrinkle easy af.) Cropped trousers and loose pants are also a go-to of mine when not wearing shorts. At the end of the day, you can do whatever you want because the temperature shouldn’t dictate your fly.

[Ed note: I am not responsible for your hospital bill if you're sent to the ER for heat exhaustion.]

It’s that time of year again to officially start switching up your closet. (Bless your heart if you a space big enough to keep all of your stuff in one place all year round.) Before bringing back all my winter gear, I decided to go through it all to either keep, donate, or edit. I’ve made note of this before, but if you’re on a budget (turn up for fiscal responsibility!) then altering your clothes is much easier than going out and getting new stuff. That being said, I grabbed a pair of scissors and started cropping some sweaters. Drawing inspiration from Yeezy Season, I wanted to go for that unfinished look. I can’t tell you exactly where to cut because it depends on your body type and how bold you want to be. I can tell you ,however, that these look great with longer shirts underneath. Since I’m on the shorter side, I get the illusion of having a torso for once. It may not be for everybody, but might as well try to rock the crop at least once.

Do You See This Coat

I’m convinced that a good sleek coat can make any outfit look like a million bucks. All winter I searched high and low for the prefect gray topcoat to no avail. That is until I found this this one from Uniqlo’s last capsule collection with Jil Sander hanging in my roommate’s closet. (Hi Corey!) Since we’re still in that weird transitional phase on the east coast you can still pull off the wool coat with a hoodie or sweatshirt. For those warmish days you can throw this over something as simple jeans and a tee. Cue the Kanye sound bite.

One of my greatest weaknesses in life is indecisiveness. (If you work in HR who wants to hire me, I’m just kidding lol.) I really wanted a pair of green checked pants for the season and was pleasantly surprised when I found a pair at the fast fashion goldmine that is Forever 21. I was even more surprised that they offered a full suit option. Problem was that I hated the blazer. At said store there was another suit option in a more red hue but I knew I was never going to wear those pants by themselves. Easy solution: mix and match the suit options for this quasi festive look. I know that I’ll wear both of these pieces separately and I don’t mind the subtle peacocking  the complementary tones dole out. I’m a huge fan of combining suit separates but pay special attention to your color and pattern matching. The last thing you want to look like is that your top and bottom halves got dressed in separate apartments.
