Classic movies are a great place to draw outfit inspiration from. When I first picked up this jacket in a random thrift store, I was immediately reminded of James Dean (not Deen) in Rebel Without A Cause. When channeling inspiration from your favorite silver screen characters you want to make sure it doesn’t get costume-y. My personal take on the look involved an oversized sweatshirt, destroyed denim and Timbs because I am not a white man in the 50′s. (Even though a Buzzfeed quiz would probably suggest it.) This look is also a great story on fluctuating weather staples. I don’t wear this red suede jacket enough but it’s one of those pieces I keep in my closet and only pull out when the time is right. (That’s what James Deen said.)

Second only to Leather Weather, Sweater Weather is my favorite time of the year. You don’t sweat through your shirts and you don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving your coat at the clurb. It truly is the most magical time of the year, folks. Whether you’ll wear them dressed up, with sweats, or at your deposition appointment, these chunky knits  are a staple for every dude’s closet. Check out some of my favorite mens sweaters from East Dane above.

Last week my roommate said to me “Thank god you grew out of that cozy boy phase” upon noticing my lack of wearing sweatpants damn near everyday. Because of that comment and because I generally don’t know how to act, this look was born. When rocking sweats, your accessories can separate you from  bum to balla. The bucket hat and these sweet Pony x Colette collab sneakers make it look like I’m 30 minutes late to this meeting because I was too busy checking out my fit in the mirror and not 30 minutes late because I overslept. (Note: On any given day, either of those can be true.) If anyone has beef with your sweatpants tell them to kiss your comfortable a$$.

At my core I’m a sucker for some dark denim. I’ve legit deaded my other jean jackets all week while I wore this beauty with the contrast coated sleeves. Tried to keep it simple on this one, but even that seems like the most. Let’s just say this beanie has had *ahem* “mixed” reviews when I’ve worn it. Personally I’m all about it. On that note, I’m pretty positive I won’t be able to escape my street urchin image, and I’m OK with that. My new-ish philosophy when it comes to throwing on jeans is “when in doubt, go black.” I’m pretty sure my ex thought the same thing, but that’s a story for a different blog….Or Maury.
